
Dr. Maria Eduarda Machado received her doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Porto (Portugal). Her research areas of interest include metaphysics and natural philosophy, with a special focus on the problems about part-whole relation. She works on the intersection between medieval and contemporary philosophy. Dr. Machado received PhD and post-MA research fellowships from Portugal’s national science foundation (FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) and was a member of the FCT-funded project Does God Know the Contingents? The Origin in the 16th Century of the Middle Knowledge Doctrine. She also served as secretary and executive editor of IPM Monthly (Medieval Philosophy Today), patronized by SOFIME.
She also participated in social and pedagogical outreach initiatives, serving as a workshop facilitator for older adults and children from diverse backgrounds, including at the School of Florinhas do Lar (Oblates du Cœur de Jésus) in Portugal.
In her free time, Dr. Machado enjoys painting and practicing calligraphy, with a particular interest in floral and religious motifs.
