Prof. Hannah Murphy

Hannah Murphy was born and brought up in Kent, England. She studied Classics at King’s College London, gaining a first class honours degree and also becoming an Associate of the College upon successful completion of a concurrent course in Philosophy and Theology.

She went on to study at Newnham College, University of Cambridge where she focussed on Medieval Latin for an M.Phil, researching sixth and twelfth century allegorical interpretations of Virgil’s Aeneid and marginal notes in two twelfth century manuscripts.

She subsequently spent four years at the Ecole St Jean in France, studying philosophy, and has worked as a French translator for 15 years, working primarily on philosophical and theological texts.

She has taught Greek and Latin for 10 years and is currently writing an Ancient Greek textbook for children.

She lives in Surrey, England with her husband and daughter.
