Michela Beatrice Ferri, Ph.D. in Philosophy, is a Catholic Italian professor, writer, art critic. She teaches Aesthetics and Aesthetics of Sacred Art, Christian Iconography, and Dante Studies, for the Holy Apostles College and Seminary.
She received her doctorate in Philosophy at the Università degli Studi di Milano (Milan, Italy), in 2012, with a dissertation dedicated to the reception of Phenomenology in the United States of America. She is the author of the first book published in Italy dedicated to Contemporary Sacred Art (“Sacro Contemporaneo. Dialoghi sull’arte”, Áncora Editrice, Milano, 2016, translated in English as “Contemporary Sacred Art. Dialogues about Art and Faith”, En Route Books and Media, Saint Louis, 2019) and Editor of the first volume dedicated to the history of the reception of Phenomenology in North America (Springer, 2019: https://www.springer.com/la/book/9783319991832).
She is editor of the volume dedicated to the Aesthetics Thought of Saint Pope Paul VI: https://www.tabedizioni.it/shop/product/il-pensiero-estetico-di-paolo-vi-75. The book is published in Rome.
Her interests include: Philosophy, of course, Aesthetics, Aesthetics of Sacred Art, History of Art, History of Sacred Art, Architecture of Churches, Liturgy, Phenomenological Aesthetics, Phenomenology, the history of the Phenomenological Movement, Thomism, Thomistic Aesthetics, the thought of Edith Stein, the thought of Dietrich von Hildebrand, the dialogues between Philosophy and the Arts, the dialogue between Philosophy and Technology, and also Modern and Contemporary Philosophy of Science, Dante Studies, Human Sciences.
As a journalist and art critic, Dr. Ferri writes for several Catholic journals and collaborates with several Catholic institutions and radio programs. She attended several conferences and presented her research in several meetings – in Italy and abroad.
Dr. Ferri is married to Luca Stucchi, Catholic, B.S., M.S., and Engineer in Computer Science.
