Dr. James Merrick

Convinced that theology is an intellectual act of praise, I understand my principal responsibility to honor the Lord in my teaching and to encourage faith in Him among my students. What excites me is discovering the riches of the Faith and helping laity and clergy alike behold the integrity of the Church’s liturgical, moral, and doctrinal heritage. My excitement for the truth of Christianity has meant an appreciation of its continuity over time. The normativity and endurance of Tradition has also been a catalyst in my ecclesial journey, first moving me from evangelicalism to Anglicanism and then, finally, from Anglicanism into the Catholic Church. With my wife of eighteen years, Allison, a professional graphic designer, I have six children: Rowan (11), Evelyn (8), Magdalene (5), Augustine (4), Josephine (2), and Benedict (3mos.). My hobbies include landscaping, hiking, cycling, photography, and brewing.
