The ESL Pathways Program
The ESL Pathways Program (English as a Second Language Pathways Program) prepares non-native English-speaking seminarians and students for success in their academic degree programs at Holy Apostles.
Program Structure
- Classes meet on campus four days a week for two semesters
- Coursework integrates faith and academics, supporting both formation and education
Program Goals
Students build confidence in all areas of English: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Special attention is given to:
- Vocabulary development and functional grammar
- Clear pronunciation and strong oratory skills
- Academic and theological language needed for seminary and college study
Learning Experience
Through interactive lessons, communicative tasks, and gamified activities, students engage with English in ways that are both challenging and enjoyable. The program is designed to strengthen language skills while building community and preparing students to thrive in their studies and future ministry.

Program Highlights
More than Classes – This program is about formation, not just learning English. Seminarians continue their daily rhythm of prayer, Mass, and community life while building language skills. Students in other academic programs also grow in faith and formation, integrating prayer, study, and community into their learning.
Immersive – English is practiced in the classroom and in daily life.
Complete Communication – Focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing to prepare for both study and ministry.
Catholic Language – Learn the English words and phrases used in the Church so you can fully participate in liturgy, theology courses, and pastoral work.
