Philosophy, Theology, English in the Humanities, History in the Social Sciences Core Courses All students seeking a Bachelor of Arts degree complete a 97-credit honors level core curriculum. Each course is three credits, except as noted. The number in parentheses indicates the number of mandatory courses per semester. Freshman Year Semester I (5) - Catechism I; Science I; Latin I; Introduction to Poetry; Humanities in the Ancient World. Semester II (5) - Catechism II; History of Ancient Philosophy; Latin II; Introduction to Drama; Humanities in the Early Christian and Medieval World. Sophomore Year Semester I (4) - Logic; Introduction to Scripture; Latin III (selections from a major author); The Novel, Short Story and Non-Fiction Writing. Semester II (4) - History of Medieval Philosophy; Introduction to the New Testament; Rhetoric; Emergence and Development in Social Sciences. Junior Year Semester I (4) - Metaphysics; Church History; Behavioral Science/Psychology; Fine Arts (Renaissance to Present). Semester II (4) - Epistemology; Liturgy; Math for the Liberal Arts; History elective. Senior Year Semester I (3) - Ethics; Spirituality; Human Biology/lab (4 credits). Semester II (3) - Philosophy of Man; Issues in Contemporary Philosophy; Major Masters and Movements in Music.
